Steps

  1. Remove the shields

    • Take off the underbody shields.
    Watch this step (FCP Euro, on a 335i) (1:14–2:30)

  2. Remove the fan

    • Take out the radiator fan.
    Watch this step (2:30–4:48)

  3. Remove the intercooler

    • Take it out.
    Watch this step (4:48–6:53)

  4. Fit the new intercooler

    • Fit it.
    Watch this step (8:07–10:05)

  5. Reassemble

    • Refit everything.

Safety first

  • Park on flat ground, set the parking brake and chock the wheels.
  • Never get under a car held up only by a jack. Use jack stands.
  • Let the engine and exhaust cool first.
  • Disconnect the battery before unplugging electrical parts.
  • Wear safety glasses.
  • If something doesn't match your car, stop and ask a shop.
