Focus ST Rear motor mount
Your Focus ST
Pick your year to see what fits.
Every US Focus ST (2013–2018) is a hatchback with a 6-speed manual and the same 2.0L EcoBoost engine, so the same parts fit every year.
Less wheel hop
Medium$190–$2001–1.5 hrs
Why do it
The stock rear mount is soft, so the engine rocks and the front tires hop when you launch. A stiffer mount fixes it with only a little more vibration.
Tools you'll need
- Jack and jack stands
- 3/8" ratchet and extension
- 13mm and 15mm sockets (15mm deep too)
- 13mm and 15mm wrenches
- T30 Torx bit
- 10mm Allen bit
- Torque wrench
Parts to buy
- COBB rear motor mount V2 (891010) Billet aluminum with a vibration-absorbing bushing. The newer version of the mount in our video; it installs the same way.Fits 2013–2018
Doesn't fit your car (0)
Double-check fitment before buying.
Before you start
- The COBB mount fits every 2013–2018 Focus ST.
- Expect a little more vibration at idle. That's normal with a stiffer mount.

Raise the front
- Raise the front and support it on jack stands, or use a lift.
Remove the under-cover
- Remove the plastic cover under the engine to reach the mount. It sits low, toward the back of the engine.
Remove the brackets in the way
- To reach the mount, remove the downpipe bracket and the extra bracket next to it. Start with the rear nut.
- Keep track of every nut and bolt. They all go back.
Unbolt the mount's front arm
- Remove the bolt at the front, the one at the back, and the bolt under the stud.
- Then remove the cross bolt.
Remove the stock mount
- Tilt the engine slightly by hand to reach the last bolt at the back.
- Remove the main mount bolt and pull the stock mount out.
Fit the new mount
- Clean the area where the mount sits.
- The new mount is a tighter fit. Work it in until the bolt hole lines up and start the bolt by hand.
Reinstall the bracket and torque the bolts
- Refit the bracket with its bolts and two studs. The video torques these to 45 ft-lb.
- Thread in the cross bolt straight by hand and torque it (75 ft-lb in the video), then the back bolt (70 ft-lb). Check COBB's instructions for your exact specs.
Refit the downpipe brackets and cover
- Put both downpipe brackets and their six nuts on loosely first. Tighten the two main ones, then the other four.
- Refit the under-cover.
How to know it worked
- No clunk when shifting or getting on and off the gas.
- Much less wheel hop on launches.
- Nothing rattles under the car.

For:
Safety first
- Park on flat ground, set the parking brake and chock the wheels.
- Never get under a car held up only by a jack. Use jack stands.
- Let the engine and exhaust cool first.
- Disconnect the battery before unplugging electrical parts.
- Wear safety glasses.
- If something doesn't match your car, stop and ask a shop.
Follow your part's instructions and your service manual's torque specs.
